WHAT IS RABBIT?
RABBIT is a social meme built to disrupt the hypnosis that what we are doing is working for us. It names a shared and repeatable campaign to open up the local policy making process to public input so that we can begin to address the problems we all face. In our predatory and individualistic culture, we have been conditioned to believe that our problems are personal - yet every systemic failure to address social needs is the result of bad policy.
Instead of asking for your permission to promote their own agenda and defend their own bias, an individual running a RABBIT Campaign uses their platform to identify that our local legislative process is no longer working to address our issues. Instead of promising to spend their time getting to know the population they represent, a RABBIT Candidate acknowledges that it is a radical and dangerous waste of time to wait for one person to figure out what thousands of people already know - when we can just give people the chance to speak for themselves.
Upon election, a RABBIT Candidate uses their position to implement two policies which provide the foundation for systemic change: an open public forum parallel to every standing committee, and an interactive digital map that citizens can use to guide the legislative conversation around issues we can affect right here and now. Throughout their term, a RABBIT candidate works to shift the function of our elected officials from individuals who answer for us, into a system that answers to us.
To maintain the shared and repeatable nature of a RABBIT Campaign, the candidate does not present themselves as the focus of public attention. In this way, RABBIT demands that we change our expectations for the way our society is governed. Instead of giving our time and attention to the person running for office, each candidate asks you to take RABBIT and make it yours - that’s the only way this will work. If you agree that we have a right to decide our own lives, add a RABBIT around your community so that we can find each other and begin the work.
This is going to be fun.
CHAOS IS A CHANCE FOR REORGANIZATION
WE HAVE OUTGROWN THE NEED
FOR REPRESENTATION
WE NEED AN IDEA TO ORGANIZE AROUND
RABBIT IS A REASON
TO DO SOMETHING NOW
FEELING PESSIMISTIC?
QUESTION WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD.
Our collective attention has always been the most valuable commodity in society and the established political conversation is scripted with media that keeps us distracted. This whole situation is a result of mass conditioning through propaganda and systemic social trauma. If you think we are unable to work together, ask yourself: Should we give all of our clean water to AI? Should parents be able to spend time with their children? Do we have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? These are not complex issues and do not require debate - yet these questions are never answered by our population in a meaningful way.
RABBIT is a reason to agree for a reason, so that we can have a collective discussion about what we want our world to look like.
RABBIT is a symbol for rebirth. It reminds us that we are always evolving, thus we must expect to change. Instead of accepting “how it is,” we agree to participate in the process of creating policy that works for all of us.
RABBIT is a symbol for reconciliation. It reminds us that we have to work together to figure out what works for us, thus we expect to collaborate. Instead of arguing over who gets to decide for us, we agree that if policy works to meet our needs - it works for you, and it works for me.
RABBIT is a symbol for renaissance. It reminds us that human has the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Instead of preparing a violent revolution, we agree to celebrate what it means to be alive.
When people try and tell you that we’re destined to fight and that this will never work - remember the unbeatable logic of collective functionalism:
EVERYONE HAS A BODY.
EVERYONE LIVES ON EARTH.
THE BODY WORKS WHEN ITS NEEDS ARE MET.
THE EARTH WORKS WHEN ITS NEEDS ARE MET.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
WE ALL WANT TO LIVE ON A EARTH THAT WORKS
WITH A BODY THAT WORKS.
