WHEN WHAT WE’RE DOING ISN’T WORKING,
WE NEED TO CHANGE WHAT WE’RE DOING.
WHAT ARE WE DOING? WE DO WHAT WE‘RE TOLD. THAT’S HOW IT WORKS.
WHEN DOING WHAT WE’RE TOLD ISN’T WORKING,
WE NEED TO CHANGE WHAT WE’RE DOING.
TO CHANGE WHAT WE’RE DOINg WE DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT, WE QUESTION WHAT WE’RE TOLD.
TO QUESTION WHAT WE’RE TOLD,
WE SEE WHAT WORKS.

My name is Mia Jacobson. I am 37 years old, a third generation West-Seattleite, a third-generation union Longshoreman, and a single mother of 3. I was born in the house that I’m raising kids in, a house my parents could afford with a single income, and one that I cannot afford, working the same job my father did.
RABBIT NEEDS YOUR VOTE BECAUSE
SEATTLE NEEDS YOUR VOICE
TO FIND ITS VISION
13 years ago, I realized the breakdown of our government was inevitable. Our policy making process does not allow us to learn from our mistakes because it limits the information available to the conversation by limiting access to the conversation. This is a systemic fact.
THERE IS NO SAFETY VALVE, EMERGENCY BREAK
OR DIAGNOSTIC PANEL MEASURING OR REGULATING
THE EFFICIENCY OR INTEGRITY OF OUR GOVERNMENT.
Upon election, every candidate is put into a process with no feedback loop. Regardless of their ambition, skill, or integrity, it becomes clear that to work in the system they have to work with the system. They become disillusioned, overworked, and have to constantly worry about securing re-election if they are to make any progress the snail-like pace at which our government operates.
POSITIONS OF POWER CHANGE YOUR BRAIN
THERE IS NO CANDIDATE THAT CAN OVERCOME THIS
UNLESS THEY PLAN TO CHANGE IT
I AM RUNNING RABBIT AS A BEACON
TO CHANGE WHAT WE ARE DOING
This lack of oversight is an aspect of Centralized Governance, a system of organization that is abandoned every time society calls for radical change. Like a swinging pendulum, when enough people realize the rigidity of centralized authority makes change impossible - we move to a decentralized model.
OUR GOVERNMENT’S INABILITY TO ADDRESS OUR ISSUES
IS NOT OUR REPRESENTATIVE’S FAULT
IT IS THE DEFAULT OF OUR SYSTEM
Centralized governance relies on hierarchy to distribute authority. De-centralized Governance relies on merit. Rabbit’s Baton offers 3 policies which allow us to move towards this model by creating a way to determine merit.
An open public forum parallel to each committee creates a social mirror so we can look at ourselves. We can use data scrapes and analytics to see the issues, opinions, and questions we have in common, and see where we differ.
An interactive digital map allows us to organize our conversations around what is happening right here and now, in our local areas. We drop pins to identify issues and see how many agree or disagree. We drop pins to identify solutions and see how many agree and disagree.
The creation of Social Unions according to identity, issue, and interest allow us to break to the barriers of our conflict conditioning to find our bond. They offer the security of the common so we can endure the diversity of difference.
RABBIT DOESN’T RELY WINNING AN ELECTION.
WE STEP INTO THE PROCESS BY MAKING CONNECTIONS.
THIS IS MORE THAN JUST VOTING
AND VOTING IS BIG
